First Year Resident Orientation
Goals

• Get to know fellow PGY-1s, fellow residents, faculty and clinic staff
• Provide closely supervised exposure to both inpatient and outpatient routines in preparation for functioning as an independent PGY-1
• Bring all PGY-1s ‘up to snuff’ – i.e., provide opportunities for shoring up any major knowledge or skill weaknesses from medical school
• Provide opportunities to become BLS, ACLS, and ALSO certified
• Learn about the ‘business’ of medicine and of the FPC and inpatient FM service
• Provide exposure to the various resources (human, computer, library and other) available to residents during their training
• Allow social interaction between and among faculty, residents and staff
